PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, May 1, 2019 members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit, SERT Team, and Patrol Division Deputies executed a search warrant at 715 Newbern Avenue in Statesville based on evidence of illegal drug sales occurring at this location.

The Narcotics Investigation Unit began an undercover investigation in March 2019, involving this residence for the sale, and distribution of “Crack” cocaine, and other drugs after the Sheriff’s Office received complaints from residents in the area of drug activity occurring at the residence.

On Thursday, April 4, 2019 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at this home. When the warrant was executed, illegal drugs were located in the home. Dorey Jarvis Joyner was arrested for Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver “Crack” Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver MDMA/Ecstasy, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana. Kevin Joyner who was at the location was also charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver “Crack” Cocaine, and Felony Maintaining a Dwelling.

Today, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigations Unit executed another search warrant at this location. As a result of this investigation. Dorey Jarvis Joyner, and Chantala Nicole Sharpe were taken into custody, 22.7 grams of Cocaine, 95.4 grams of Marijuana, 1.5 grams of Marijuana “Wax”, 1.1 grams of “Crack” Cocaine, and two dosage units of Hydrocodone were seized.

Based on the evidence gathered in this case, Dorey Jarvis Joyner, and Chantala Nicole Sharpe were both charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, and Felony Maintain a Dwelling to Sell Controlled Substance. Magistrate D. Sanders issued each suspect a 50,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges. A Felony Arrest Warrant was also issued for Kevin Raynard Joyner for one count of Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine. He has been entered as a wanted person.

Sheriff Campbell added, “Here we have an individual, Dorey Jarvis Joyner, who has a lengthy criminal history, and is a convicted felon. He has pending serious felony drug charges along with a Habitual Felon charge from 2017, he is out on bond for these charges. He was arrested again in April of this year on more drug charges. He was issued a 100,000.00 dollars secured bond on those charges. He gets released, and is arrested again within a month on more felony drug charges. This time he receives a 50,000.00 dollars secured bond. It is obvious he is a danger, by continuing to sell drugs in our community. We are currently working together with the District Attorney’s Office to increase this bond amount.”
