Charlotte man facing child sex crime charges in Statesville

On January 24, 2019, Statesville Police Department was notified of a sexual assault of a juvenile. Investigators with the Statesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division immediately began an investigation involving conducting interviews and collecting evidence. The victim identified Mr. Kima Sharell Ivey as the offender.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, it was determined the sexual assaults occurred on multiple occasions beginning in March of 2017 through January of 2019.

On March 15, 2019, Statesville Police Department obtained warrants for Mr. Ivey for thirteen (13) counts of sex offence and eight (8) counts of Indecent Liberties. After receiving an address in the City of Charlotte for Mr. Ivey, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was notified and arrested Mr. Ivey on March 21, 2019.
