Panthers maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game, but Packers came within eight points during the fourth quarter.

In the end, a 37-29 victory for the Panthers, who travel to Tennessee next Sunday.

A Troutman Elementary School football player has quite the moment from yesterday’s game – that program reporting that the young player was handed a touchdown ball by Cam Newton.

At the high school level – brackets released over the weekend for football playoffs.

The Lake Norman Wildcats travel to Independence Friday night.

South Iredell hosts Central Cabarrus.

Statesville hosts Tuscola, and Mooresville hosts Myers Park.

In Volleyball – the South Iredell women’s team won the 3A State Championship Saturday, beating out Asheville 3-0.
