On 6-17-14 Sgt. C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Honda on S. Main St. in Troutman due to a registration violation. Stone spoke to the driver, Ricky Leo Frenette, 49, of Wild Rose Lp. Mooresville, and his passenger, Jennifer Lynn Bjork, 33, of Mills Forest Ln. Mooresville, and advised them of the reason they had been stopped. When Frenette was unable to produce his driver’s license Deputy Stone requested that he exit his vehicle and sit in the front passenger seat of the patrol car.
During this time it was discovered that Frenette’s license was revoked. While speaking with Frenette, Stone noticed that he appeared to be nervous. A check of Bjork’s name indicated that she had a prior history of drug possession. After questioning Frenette about the possibility of there being illegal contraband inside the vehicle a search was conducted. During the search, hydrocodone was located inside Bjork’s pocketbook along with drug paraphernalia.
Frenette was then charged with driving while license revoked and failing to register a vehicle while Bjork was charged with possession of hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
