While area law enforcement agencies team-up to address crime in Statesville and elsewhere, local churches and community members are also stepping-up.
Statesville Police Chief Joe Barone joined WSIC’s ‘Live Local’ Tuesday, talking about how the Church and Police Coalition is working with young people. Barone says hunger is a contributing factor to crime and that his agency is arresting individuals who are breaking the law in order to eat.
Hoping to address that early, the coalition is providing meals to children.

The Church and Police Coalition is based at Cochran Street Bible Church. Barone encourages individuals to ask themselves what resources they can provide in order to help.
