The owner of Statesville’s SonRise Cafe has been arrested, accused by the Police Department of committing armed robbery in his parking lot.
According to police, Gerald Kale turned himself in last week. Investigators say his son was meeting with someone about bank and cash bonds that had been found in a storage unit purchased by that individual.
Kale is accused of walking up with a gun saying, “hand over the bonds.” Police say his son was not aware of what was happening and will not face any charges.
Also from Statesville PD – someone shot in the leg during a Wilson Lee Boulevard scuffle early this morning. The investigation is ongoing.
