Possible “compromise” to HB2 continues in Raleigh

What some are calling a compromise to North Carolina’s nationally-known bathroom bill HB2 remains in the works in Raleigh.

Lake-area State Senator Jeff Tarte.  House Bill 186 was presented as a means to repeal HB2 while keeping regulation of multiple occupancy bathrooms with the state. 

Municipalities would have the authority to pass non-discrimination ordinances, but would have to conduct a public referendum in cases with enough opposition.

Some opponents say the bill doesn’t do enough to move away from HB2.
