State projections show Iredell County’s population will have grown by nearly 17 percent in the ten year period ending in 2020.
That’s according to data included in the county’s budget proposal released this week. Other predictions are included in the document as well. Iredell County’s elderly population is expected to outgrow school age residents in 2019. Data shows the elderly population up 40 percent between 2016 and 2025. The school age population declines nearly 4 percent by the same estimation.
Building permits continue trending upward with most of the proposed development falling in southern Iredell. Some is centered around Statesville and a pocket in the west part of the county. Iredell has used this data to formulate the budget proposal which does not include a tax rate increase.
