One person dead following Mooresville hit-and-run

MOORESVILLE, NC: On Sunday, July 2 at 10:45 pm, Mooresville Police received a 911 call in reference to a pedestrian struck by a car in the 400 block of Patterson Avenue. Officers arrived and found Willie Byers III, 56, of Mooresville critically injured and lying in the street. Iredell County EMS and Mooresville Fire – Rescue arrived and began emergency care for the victim. Byers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told officers the suspect vehicle fled the area after striking the victim. Suspect vehicle is described only as a passenger car.
