DAVIDSON, NC – The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce trolley service for the 10-week period from April 1 to June 10 to get people to downtown Davidson. Two trolleys will transport residents and visitors from the east and west sides of town to the downtown and South Main Street areas.
Trolleys will run on Friday evenings 6:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in continuous 15-minute loops. The trolley route for the east side of town will start at the River Run athletic field parking lot and the route for the west side of town will start from the corner of Griffith and Southwest streets in the North Harbor area.
Maps with trolley stops can be found on our website at www.townofdavidson.org/trolley
“One of the Town of Davidson’s core values states that ‘Citizens need to move easily throughout the town and region, so government will provide a variety of options, such as sidewalks, bike paths, greenways, connected streets, and transit,’” said Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming. “Citizens have voiced the need for a local transportation shuttle or trolley service as a way of mitigating traffic congestion and downtown parking concerns.”
This trolley service is an expanded trial of the Saturday Shuttle program that started this past fall. We will evaluate the ridership and routes and use this information to help inform the town’s upcoming Mobility Plan.
There is no charge for this service. Unfortunately, pets and children requiring some type of car seat cannot be accommodated.
