CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to improve N.C. 150 from two lanes to a multi-lane roadway between the N.C. 16 Bypass in Catawba County and the U.S. 21/N.C. 150 interchange in Iredell County.

In February, a meeting was held involving state and federal agencies to review the proposed project and evaluate potential effects to the Historic Terrell District, an area comprised of 11 buildings built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Under federal law, this area is provided special protection.

The project team reviewed two proposed build alternatives. The first alternative would have had adverse effects to the historic district. The second build alternative was selected, bypassing the historic district to the north.

Public hearing maps for this project can be viewed on the NCDOT website.
