A man wanted on charges of first degree kidnapping and second degree rape by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office appears to have had a brief Facebook encounter with the people seeking his arrest.
After the Sheriff’s Office posted pictures seeking the whereabouts of Derek Helms, someone commented that he had worked with the man and wouldn’t believe the allegations.
Helms appears to have responded thanking his friend and calling the Sheriff’s Office “croked” (crooked). Deputies weighed-in saying Helms needed to turn himself in. That set-off a firestorm of comments, many finding humor in the situation.
