Less than a week from now, students in Statesville and Mooresville will be back in class.

WSIC’s Elizabeth Lynn looks at how the school districts are getting ready.

“Combined, over two hundred new teachers have been hired. Susie Wiberg from Iredell- Statesville reminds drivers to put children’s safety first and not pass buses when their stop arm is out. All buses have cameras and will photograph cars attempting to pass illegally. Additionally, the Mooresville High School expansion continues as expected. District spokesperson Tanea McClean, says it is not causing any issues currently. Students will remain in the building awaiting final construction some time next year. Also, Dr. Steven Mauney begins as the new Superintendent for Mooresville schools.”

Back to school means back to high school football. WSIC will carry Friday’s South Iredell – Hickory game via TV 21.2 and our web stream. The broadcast starts at 7:00, hosted by Ryan Pegarsch.
