Investigation into theft of $14,000 in lawn mowers ends in arrests

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on Sunday, July 17th, 2016, Progressive Power Equipment located at 5233 Wilkesboro Highway Statesville, NC, had multiple lawn mowers stolen from the fenced in area in front of the business. Photographs of the suspects and suspect vehicle, along with additional information, were disseminated on Facebook and in the press with a request from the public for assistance. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls and letters from the public with information assisting in the identification of the suspects, Johnny Ray Sheets and Lonnie Joseph Pruitt. On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, detectives from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of detectives from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office followed up on information regarding the location of the stolen lawn mowers. All of the stolen lawn mowers from the incident, with a value of $14,066.83, were recovered in Davie County.

Johnny Ray Sheets was arrested on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, and charged with First Degree Trespass and Felony Larceny. Sheets received a $5,000.00 bond and a first appearance court date of Thursday, August 18, 2016. There are outstanding warrants for Lonnie Joseph Pruitt for the charges of First Degree Trespass and Felony Larceny. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Lonnie Joseph Pruitt they are asked to contact the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
