I-SS names new Executive Director of Elementary Education

Iredell-Statesville Schools are proud to announce the naming of Mr. Jonathan Ribbeck as the new Executive Director of Elementary Education, beginning August 1, 2017. Mr. Ribbeck will be following Dr. Mary Ann Karriker who will be retiring this summer.

Mr. Ribbeck’s career in Iredell-Statesville Schools began in 1999 as a teacher at Monticello Elementary School, where he was nominated by his peers as the Teacher of the Year in 2003-2004. He became the Instructional Facilitator at that same elementary school in August of 2005 and moved into the role of Instructional Facilitator/Assistant Principal at Scotts Elementary in August of 2007. Currently, Mr. Ribbeck is the Principal at Celeste Henkel Elementary School and has served in this role since February of 2009.

Mr. Ribbeck holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from State University of New York at Oswego and a Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University. Mr. Ribbeck’s career at Celeste Henkel has been marked with innovation and accolades as the school began their journey into STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) practices several years ago. Celeste Henkel Elementary was one of four schools within the District chosen to pilot implementation of the RtI (Response to Intervention) behavioral model more than five years ago. Mr. Ribbeck was the Iredell-Statesville Schools’ Principal of the Year both in 2011-12 and 2013-14. Mr. Ribbeck is a frequent guest presenter at professional conferences, including the Baldrige Regional Conference, the North Carolina State Exceptional Children’s Conference, the National Quality Conference and the Collaborative Conference for Student Achievement..

Mr. Ribbeck is married and has two children in Iredell-Statesville Schools.
