PRESS RELEASE

A hard landing at the Statesville Regional Airport this afternoon (Nov. 17) resulted in damage to a twin engine Beechcraft Baron, but no injuries to the pilot and passenger, according to Statesville Fire Chief Spencer Lee.

Lee said that the pilot and his passenger were attempting a touch-and-go landing when the left engine failed, causing the aircraft to shift hard to the left across the runway and airfield. This caused the landing gear to be sheared off.

The State Highway Patrol secured the area and Statesville Fire units responded. An FAA investigator was called to the scene and following his inspection, the plane will be towed to a hanger for repair.
