It’s possible, but unlikely, there will be any resolution today in the case of Statesville City Councilman Roy West.
He was in private warrant court this morning on two misdemeanor charges – communicating threats as well as assault and battery. State law mandates these be dealt with via arbitration if possible to avoid district court.
Fellow Councilman Jarrod Phifer took-out the charges on West, accusing him of causing a broken knee and a sprained thumb during a closed-door meeting last month.

West told WSIC while waiting in court this morning that Phifer was not interested in arbitration. Phifer’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
