City of Statesville announces Memorial Day schedule changes

City of Statesville government offices will be closed Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no garbage collection on that day. The revised schedule for the week of May 28 through June 1 is as follows:

  • Monday’s route will run on Tuesday
  • Tuesday and Wednesday routes will run Wednesday
  • Thursday and Friday routes will operate on the same schedule

The revised schedule for commercial businesses with garbage cans or rollout containers is:

  • Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday
  • Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday routes will run on a regular schedule

The Statesville Fitness & Activity Center will be closed on Memorial Day. The Statesville Leisure Pool will open for the season on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is open on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Memorial Day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 704-878-3947 for more information on the pool rates and schedule or check out the City’s website at statesvillenc.net. The Statesville ABC Stores will be open on Memorial Day.

Statesville City Sanitation crews will start running their routes at 6 a.m., beginning Tuesday, May 29. During the summer, the department moves up their starting time in order to complete their routes before the heat of the day. Sanitation customers are reminded to put their carts on the curb the night before their pick-up day to assure their trash and recycling are not missed.
