Citing witnesses and evidence at the scene, Trooper Ketner with the Highway Patrol tells WSIC a passenger car was traveling north on Highway 21 when it crossed the center line and collided with Elmore’s motorcycle. Ketner says there is presently no information why the car operated by Megan Beaver of Mocksville crossed the center line. Speed and alcohol are not thought to be factors in the accident.
Elmore underwent surgery after arriving at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem Tuesday morning.
He is Assistant Chief of the Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department and is employed by the Concord Fire Department. Cool Springs Fire Chief Andy Webster says the family is “holding it together” the best it can while waiting on news of his condition from doctors. Elmore is described as an active member of the department who is well-liked by his fellow fire fighters.
Trooper Ketner says charges will be filed pending the outcome of his investigation.
