It is with sadness that we learned on Monday, April 17th about the death of Alexander County Sheriff’s Office 911 Telecommunicator Michael Eric “Bubba” Pennell, while he was on duty at the Central Alexander Fire Department.

Mr. Pennell was 49 years old and had worked for the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office for more than 12 years. He was known and loved throughout Alexander County as he exemplified dedication to his fellow telecommunicators and emergency responders while keeping the community safe, whether he was answering 911 calls or volunteering with the fire department.

Our hearts are heavy at the loss of one of our own, and we send the deepest condolences to his wife Amy, the entire Sheriff’s Office family, and Bubba’s fellow firefighters.

On Saturday, his family, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Alexander Fire Department will honor his lie and service to the community. The family will receive friends at Millersville Baptist Church on April 22, 2017, from 1:00 until 3:45 PM. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Brian Kerley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
