Alexander man charged with child abuse

On Wednesday, January 10th, 2018, Investigators from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Alexander County Department of Social Services regarding possible child abuse to a 13 month old that occurred on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018. Information was received that the child was seen at Davis Regional Medical Center, Carolina Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and then taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and DSS responded to Brenner where they were able to meet with the victim and the victim’s family.

The child was treated and released from Brenner. Through further investigation, Teddy Lee BENTLEY, 35, of Taylorsville, was charged with 1 count of Felony Child Abuse / Severe Physical Injury. Mr. BENTLEY was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $40,000.00 Secured Bond. He is scheduled for his First Appearance on Monday, January 22nd, 2018 in District Court.
