NCDOT advises motorists not to travel in these counties due to flooding:
 Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Western Craven (west of US 17), Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, southern Johnston (south of 70), Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, and southern Wayne (south of 70 Business)

Several sections of I-95 and I-40 are still flooded.
New I-95 Detour
Southbound:  US 64 west (Exit 138) to I-440 east to I-40 west to US 1 south to US 15/501 south in Aberdeen to US 74 east back to I-95
Northbound:  US 74 west (Exit 13) to US 15/501 north to US 1 north to I-40 east to I-440 west to US 264 west to I-95

 If travel to south east points is unavoidable, NCDOT recommends these routes from US 264 to
  • Kinston:  take  NC 11 South in Greenville
  • New Bern: take US 17 South in Washington
  • Havelock and Morehead City:   take US 17 in Washington to New Bern, then take US 70 East
  • Jacksonville:  take US 17 in Washington to New Bern, then take US 70 east to NC 24 through Swansboro   
At this time no safe, stable or reliable route exists for the public to get to and from Wilmington.

 Although water is receding on some roads, the roads and bridges may be damaged and the road closures are still in effect.  Signage should be adhered to.
 GPS systems are routing users into areas NCDOT is not recommending for travel.

Staring on Sunday September 23rd at 9:00 pm the ramp to U S 29 / 601 south from East bound N C 152 will be closed for 30 days.

Smith-Rowe will be installing lane closures on northbound and southbound NC-801 for construction of NC- 801 Bridge.

Bridge Maintenance is replacing a crossline pipe that failed due to flooding. The pipe is locatd between Brown Acres Road and Deerfield Road.  The detour route is listed below.

Due to a recent flooding event, Bridge maintenance will be replacing a crossline that goes under SR 1355 Unity Church Road. The pipe is located just south of SR 1353 Deal Road.

Moose Road over I-85 will be closed for bridge construction beginning February 1, 2018 until approximately 9/31/2018. Moose Road will be closed from Turkey Road to China Grove Road.

Construction of four additional travel lanes (two in each direction) to approximately 5 miles of I-85 from north of Lane Street (Exit 63) to north of NC152 (Exit 68) in Rowan County. Interchange improvements are also planned for interchanges at NC152 (MM 68) and Old Beatty Ford (MM 65).  Bridges between Lane Street and NC 152 will also be replaced for I-85 expansion. 
This project will complete the expansion of I-85 through Rowan County, providing a greater level of service for local and through traffic. The Contractor will need to have nightly lane closures along I-85 for construction of the I-85 widening project . Closures can take place in the inside or in the outside lanes. Closures could be located on North Bound or South Bound of I-85.

The Contractor will be closing Peach Orchard Rd between Henderson Grove Church Rd and Hader St, to construct a new bridge over Town Creek.

 Road closed to truck traffic from the intersection of Graham Rd/Caldwell Rd/NC 150 to the intersection of Millbridge Rd/NC 150. Road closed for bridge replacement beginning June 7, 2018. The road is expected to be re-opened to traffic by November 9, 2018.
