Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Iredell County Sheriff’s Office detectives received reports about five homes which had been broken into between the dates of September 11 and September 25, 2018. It was reported in all of these incidents, the homes had been entered during the day time hours and each of them had a door which had been forced open. These homes were located from Buffalo Shoals Road in Statesville to Mooresville near the county line.
During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to locate video footage and identify witnesses who were able to give a description of the suspects and a vehicle which had been used. One of the witnesses was able to provide a name of the Dwon Darius Carr.
Detectives were able to locate some of the stolen items in various pawn shops which had been sold even prior to the homeowners reporting their home had been broken into. Detectives were able to recover approximately 2,000.00 dollars’ worth of the stolen property and return it to the owners.
Detectives also learned from the investigation Catawba County Sheriff’s Office was also investigating cases similar, and they also had witness information of the same vehicle being seen.
Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office have identified two additional suspect’s people who are connected and will be facing charges for their part in these crimes. Detectives are currently working to determine their involvement and still attempting to locate more of the stolen property.
As a result of this investigation, Detective D. Clodfelter has charged Dwon Darius Carr of 220 Hillcrest Drive, with Five Felony Counts of Breaking and Entering, Six Felony Counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and Three Felony Counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense. Carr was arrested on Wednesday September 26, 2018. Magistrate T. Thompson issued a 50,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges. Additional charges were served on Carr on Thursday September 27, 2018. Magistrate M. Nethken issued an additional 50,000.00 dollars secured bond.
Sheriff Campbell added, “This case is a great example of agencies communicating and working together to arrest a group of criminals who were committing crimes all over Iredell and Catawba Counties”.
