Statesville City Council will meet Monday night, June 1, at 7 p.m. This is not a public comment meeting.
City Council will be asked to approve the first reading of an ordinance to annex 52.7 acres of land in east Statesville on Martin Lane. If approved, Council will then hold a public hearing to consider changing the rezoning from Iredell County Residential Agricultural and Suburban Residential to Statesville Highway Business District.
The property owners, Carolina RV, are planning to place a RV sales and service business on the property. This is considered a voluntary satellite annexation.
Statesville Finance Director Ralph Staley will present Council with some proposed changes to the City’s Purchasing Policy. Local governments are required to comply with federal procurement policies when spending federal grant and loan award funds. Staley is recommending that the City adopt the new policy for all purchases.
For the first time, Council will consider approving a proclamation declaring June 17, 2018, as National Garbage Collector Day. This national observance will be celebrated in Statesville to highlight the importance of our Sanitation Department workers every day as they help keep our community clean and safe.
City Council will meet in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 227 S. Center St. The meeting is open to the public. The Pre-Agenda meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the third floor conference room.
City Council meetings can be watched live on Spectrum Government Channel 20.
