SPD seeking job scam suspect |

PRESS RELEASE
Statesville NC: The Statesville Police Department currently holds a warrant on a James Anthony Craig, B/M in regards to a recent job scam investigation. This same suspect was charged by Inv. Sharon Watts in March of 2011 for the same type scam. Craig would approach random people asking them if they needed a job. In This case, Craig approached the victim in the Bi-Lo parking lot. Craig asked the victim if he needed a job that paid $14.00 an hour loading trucks. The suspect asked for money up front for uniforms. The victim gave him the money. Craig then told the victim to meet him at a local Waffle House on April 14th to fill out paperwork and start the job. The suspect never showed up at the waffle house. This was the same M.O. employed by the suspect in last year’s cases. The suspect was identified as Craig and Inv. Sharon Watts has obtained a warrant on James Anthony Craig for obtaining property by False Pretenses. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating a case with possibly the same suspect.
