Traffic stop leads to drug charges for Statesville man PDF Print E-mail

PRESS RELEASE 
 
On 4-3-12 Sgt. C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team came into contact with Steven A. Hines, 45, of Statesville, on S. Greenbriar Rd. during a traffic stop. Hines presented Stone an Ohio drivers license, however, he has lived in N.C. for more than 60 days. Stone returned to his patrol car to check the validity of Hines license and registration.

During this time Stone discovered that there was an outstanding warrant on Hines through Cabarrus County. Hines was then asked to exit his vehicle where he was search for weapons and/or other illegal items. During the search Hines was found to be in possession of more than $450 cash in his pocket.

After further questioning a search of his vehicle was conducted. During the search Sgt. J.V. Dyson located a plastic bag in the rear of the vehicle which contained 1.1 grams of heroin, three bags of marijuana weighing 22 grams, and other items of drug paraphernalia. Hines was then placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the possession of controlled substance, possession of more than ½ oz.of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernelia and no operators license, transported to the Iredell county detention center, where he received an $8,000 secured bond. [sic] This press release appears as received from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office with the exception of page/text/space formatting details.  Picture placement (and inclusion therof) also excluded.  Separate reports contained within the same press release may have also been removed.  Additionally, the different pieces of the press release may have been re-arranged.  This information does, however, reflect the information received from the Sheriff's Office.
