Teens charged in Statesville armed robbery attempt

On April 4, 2018 at approximately 6:10pm, three juveniles were walking home from Garfield Park, off Salisbury Rd, when they were approached by a dark colored SUV with three males inside. The rear passenger exited the vehicle, displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the victims, who fled on foot to a nearby residence.

SPD Investigators have identified the three suspects and have filed charges for three counts each of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Warrants were obtained on Jhonathan Morales, 16 H/M of Statesville, and were served by ICSO at ICJ on May 9, 2018.

Warrants for a second suspect, Tyshawn McNeil, 17 B/M of Statesville, have been filed and are still outstanding.

Juvenile petitions are being filed against the third suspect, a 15 year old B/M.
