Teen charged with statutory rape after being found with missing juvenile

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on November 02, 2017 Deputies were called to 2172 Wilkesboro Hwy in reference to a 15 year old missing juvenile. As Deputies were searching the area for the juvenile they located her in the area with Kristopher James O’Neill. A few days later a report was filed with the Sheriff’s Office stating that the juvenile was sexually assaulted. The investigation was turned over to Detective Sergeant Jason Lowrance of the Special Victim’s Unit. The victim was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center and statements were gathered from other witnesses.

A warrant for arrest was issued for Kristopher James O’Neill for Statutory Rape of a Child who is 15 years of age or younger. Kristopher was arrested on December 8, 2017 where he received a 9,000.00 secure bond with a first court date on December 11, 2017 here in Iredell County Court.
