Statesville shootings, thought to be connected, under investigation

Two South Statesville shootings, one in which a child was struck, are under investigation.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office believes they are connected. The first happened on Rita Avenue around 11:00 Monday night. Sheriff Darren Campbell says a house occupied by two adults and a juvenile was struck by gunfire.

There were no injuries. According to the Sheriff, deputies are pursuing a person of interest. He believes the Rita Avenue Case is connected to a shooting on Caldwell Street early Tuesday morning in which a child was hit.

Police have released few details, but say the child is in stable condition.
