Shots fired at Statesville motel

STATESVILLE, NC:  On Saturday September 22, SPD telecommunications received a 911 call with a report of shots fired at the Brookwood Inn, 1505 E. Broad St.  Officers and investigators arrived to secure the scene and begin to search for evidence and interview witnesses.

Officers learned that family members who were staying at the inn were involved in a verbal argument earlier in the evening.  The shots fired call incident involved a confrontation between persons staying at the hotel and acquaintances of one of the family members.  The suspect, one of the acquaintances, was reported to have fired rounds into the air from a vehicle as it left the parking lot of the inn.  Officers located casings at the scene, but there were no reported injuries or damage resulting from the gunfire.

This incident is under investigation.
