Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on 09/10/2017, members of the Iredell County Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE) were working in the area of West Memorial Highway Union Grove when Sgt. C. Bentley came into contact with several subjects in a passenger van.
While speaking with the individuals, Sgt. Bentley detected the odor of marijuana coming from their vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was searched. While searching the vehicle, Deputies located two handguns, marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia. A computer check later revealed that one of the handguns were stolen out of Salisbury North Carolina. The driver, Karlton Sha Caldwell of Charlotte was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brandon Jarrell Martin of Charlotte was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia along with two outstanding orders for arrest.
Jamahl Jones of Chesapeake Virginia was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and also had outstanding orders for his arrest.
Mishon Lumpkin of Charlotte was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jason Callender of Charlotte was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Martin was taken before an Iredell County Magistrate where he received an $8,000 secured bond for the above listed offences.
Jones was also taken before an Iredell County Magistrate for service of outstanding warrants where he received a $1,500 secured bond.
