Sheriff’s Office: Intoxicated man attempted to drive vehicle into building

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday September 23, 2018, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 939 Turnersburg Highway for a welfare check of an unresponsive individual.

While responding to the location, deputies were advised the unresponsive man was now awake and was attempting to drive into the side of the store with his vehicle. When the deputies arrived at the service station, they Michael Bruce Adams was intoxicated and operating his vehicle.

After getting Adams out of his vehicle, he was found in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine. Further searching of his vehicle located more methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills not prescribed to Adams and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Michael Adams was taken into custody and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor Driving while Impaired. While processing Adams, it was also discovered he had an outstanding Order for Arrest on a Probation Violation.

Adams was given a 22,500.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate T. Thompson.
