Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Sheriff Darren Campbell states that on 09/30/2017 at approximately 4:41 pm Sgt. B.A. Henderson with the COPS Division conducted a traffic stop on West Waterlynn Road for a suspicious vehicle. During the investigation, Sgt. Henderson contacted Sgt. L. Hayes with Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team to assist him at the scene.
Sgt. Hayes and his K-9 partner Danny responded to the traffic stop where Sgt. Hayes walked Danny around the suspect vehicle and he indicated the odor of illegal narcotics on the driver’s side door.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found 97 Ecstasy Pills and 40 grams of Marijuana with several plastic baggies and scales which is commonly used for sale and distribution of Marijuana and illegal narcotics.
The driver Eliseo Garcia was taken into custody and was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Trafficking MDMA (Ecstasy) by Possession, Trafficking MDMA (Ecstasy) by Transporting, Maintain Vehicle, Possession with the Intent Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia.
Garcia has a previous charge of assault on a female.
Garcia went before the Magistrate and received a $150,000.00 secured bond.
