Statesville, NC: A BOLO for a robbery suspect was received by SPD Telecommunications this morning from the City of Morganton Public Safety Department. The BOLO was relayed immediately to the SPD Criminal Investigations Division due to the robbery investigation that was already underway for the Kangaroo Express incident in Statesville reported earlier today.
SPD Investigators contacted Morganton PSD to compare surveillance images of the suspects and it was determined that it was the same suspect. Based on information gained from surveillance images of the suspect’s vehicle that Morganton PSD was able to obtain, the suspect in both incidents has been identified as Gary Adrian Church, 42, from Ronda, NC.
Church is also being linked to a robbery that occurred at the Kangaroo Express on Safriet Rd in Statesville approximately 90 minutes prior to the Salisbury Hwy incident on 8/6/18. The information regarding the Safriet Rd incident was not initially released due investigative efforts to obtain additional surveillance and information which were in the process of being collected at the time of the original media release. After reviewing the images from Safriet Rd, SPD Investigators concluded that the male was the same as the Salisbury Hwy suspect.
Warrants for the charge of Common Law Robbery have been obtained by SPD on Gary Church for the 8/6/18 Salisbury Hwy and Safriet Rd incidents.
