Man wanted on rape, kidnapping charges arrested in Iredell

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Saturday May 5, 2018 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Pulaski Virginia Police Department, and asked to assist in locating Michael Clodfelter, who was wanted for Felony Assault by Strangulation, Felony Kidnapping and Felony Forcible Rape charges stemming from an incident in their jurisdiction on Friday May 4, 2018.The suspect was believed to be in the area of eastern Iredell County.

Deputies began an extensive search of the area near Campground Road off of Mocksville Highway and where able to locate the suspect walking in the area of Campground Road.

Deputies quickly identified Michael Stephen Clodfelter and took him into custody without incident. Clodfelter was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and taken before Magistrate M. Nethken who issued Clodfelter a $500,000.00 secured bond on a Fugitive Warrant.

Clodfelter is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Virginia.
