Lincoln man sentenced to 4-15 years in prison for child sexual abuse

PRESS RELEASE

Lincolnton, NC – A Lincoln County man was sentenced today in Lincoln County Superior Court to as much as 15 years in prison.

Scott Allen Sherbert, 48, of Davis Road, Lincolnton, NC was charged in September of 2016 following an investigation by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Kelsey Harrington. Sherbert was originally charged with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child following an interview on September 28, 2016. He was later indicted on two additional felony counts of child abuse by a sexual act. The incidents occurred between January 2005 and December 2009 when the victim was a minor. The victim and suspect are related.

Sherbert entered guilty pleas to all charges brought against him and Superior Court Judge W. Todd Pomeroy sentenced him to two consecutive sentences of 23 to 88 months each in the North Carolina Department of Corrections. When released from prison Sherbert will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.
