Juvenile charged in South Statesville shooting investigation

During the shooting investigation on Wilson Lee Blvd. on Monday, a juvenile was identified as being involved in this incident. As a result, a juvenile petition was applied for and issued. The juvenile was then transported to the Alexander county Juvenile Detention center.

The juvenile faces charges of AWDWISI, Possession of a handgun by a minor, going armed to the terror of the people, and discharging a firearm inside the city.

The juvenile victim as well as the juvenile who was transported to Alexander County were both from the Salisbury area.

The victim is still hospitalized, and is recovering.

We are prevented from releasing the ages and identity of the juveniles involved.

This case remains under active investigation at this time. There is no further information that can be released at this point during the investigation.

The Statesville Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that took place today in the 1300 block of Wilson Lee Blvd. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area at about 12:15PM. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Iredell County EMS responded to the scene for initial treatment and then transported the victim to a medical facility in Winston Salem for further treatment.

SPD Investigators are still in the area following up on this case.
