ICSO charges two with child abuse

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday February 1, 2018 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child having received burns to the lower extremities of its body.

When deputies arrived on scene they secured the scene and ensured the safety of the child prior to beginning the investigation. The victim was sent to Brenner’s Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem to receive care for the injuries.

Deputies and investigators with the Special Victims Unit interviewed several witnesses and persons of interest were identified and interviewed. As a result of the investigation, Taylor Ryan Parks and Crystal Kay Duncan, were each charged with One Count of Felony Child Abuse – Willful Act or Omission Causing Serious Physical Injury. They were placed into the Iredell County Detention Center under a $2,500.00 dollars secured bond issued by Magistrate Anne Tutterow.

The investigation continues and additional charges may be pending upon review of medical records.
