Huntersville Town Manager resigns following arrest

Huntersville Town Manager Gerry Vincent has resigned following his arrest Sunday night on a charge of misdemeanor simple assault.

WSIC news partner Fox 46 reports that his resignation was accepted Monday afternoon when town board members held a closed-door meeting.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office online database, Vincent was arrested by Huntersville Police and taken to the Mecklenburg County jail around 7:00 Sunday night.

The Town released a brief statement Monday morning saying, “This is an unfortunate personal matter for Mr. Vincent and his family. We cannot comment further on this matter at this time.”
