PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Saturday June 2, 2018 a call was received by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office from a caller stating a group of young people were shooting in a wooded area off of Carolwoods Drive in Mooresville.

When Deputy B. Gudgeon arrived at the end of the cul-de-sac he noticed a red GMC truck parked there. He walked into the edge of the woods and noticed six people walking towards him. When Deputy Gudgeon identified himself as a deputy, the group scattered and ran away from him. After shouting commands for the group to stop, three of the individuals did as he said and walked back to him.

Additional deputies arrived in the area and established a perimeter. The three people were questioned as to why they ran and who the other three people were. A description of the three was put out and a perimeter was established in the area. A search of the red GMC was also made and an Identification Card for Rondarius Redfear was located. All three original witnesses identified Carter as one of the three who ran.

A short time later three males matching the descriptions given out were located walking near Coddle Creek Highway. After being identified and interviewed, all three admitted to being in the woods and shooting, they also admitted to being convicted felons.

A criminal record check verified the validity of the felony convictions.
