Alexander Sheriff’s Office: 75-year-old man distributed child porn

PRESS RELEASE

On July 16, 2018 Detectives with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Boomer NC with a Search Warrant taken before a Superior Court Judge in Wilkes County. Officers from Wilkes County and Alexander County Detectives traveled to a residence in Boomer, NC with the Search Warrant. The Search Warrant was served at the residence of Thomas Phillips. The Search Warrant was for any items or electronics with child pornography. This investigation started in March 2018 until this date July 16, 2018. Investigations found that Phillips was sending Pornographic Videos and photos of children via his electronic from his residence over the internet.

Thomas Ansel Phillips white male age 75, was arrested at his residence in Boomer NC and charged with 22 counts of Felony Disseminate Obscenity. Phillips was placed under a $100,000 secured bond on July 16, 2018. Phillips has a First Appearance on Monday July 23, 2018 in Alexander County District Court. The Detectives talked with the DA’s office and will be charging Phillips with 22 additional counts of Felony Disseminate Obscenity. Detectives talked to the Magistrate and an additional $100,000 bond will be placed on Phillips today.
