Man jumped, beaten & robbed in Statesville

The Statesville Police Department says someone was jumped from behind and robbed while walking along Fifth Street last night. The unknown individuals beat and kicked the man, going through his pockets where they stole his cigarettes and lighter. The victim pleaded with the suspects to stop beating him, which they did before fleeing.
